Giants @ Packers -9
Hexagram 4: 蒙Enveloping
This seems to be a great matchup for the Giants. They already have played Green Bay close once this year, their offense is on fire, they have a much better defense and certainly more balance overall as a team than Green Bay, they have suddenly refound their running game now that Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs are healthy again; on paper, they have as good as a chance of any at upsetting the Packers.
However, looking more closely at it, I think this is all hype and the Packers are the much better team overall. First of all, the Giants have been wildly inconsistent. If Eli Manning plays well again this week, it will be his 4th good performance in a row. If you look at the Giants’ season game by game you will see that Eli did not have a four game stretch all season in which he was consistent throwing the ball. The Packers have a difficult defense to analyze. Although they ranked dead last in terms of stopping the pass, only the 49ers caused more turnovers than them and the Pack defense also was 1st in interceptions with 8 more than their closest rival. Eli Manning will have opportunities to make plays, but Green Bay also has the ability to punish him for erratic throws.
Secondly, the Packers’ narrow 3 point win over the Giants was in New Jersey. This game will be at Lambeau where the Packers went 8-0 during the regular season with a winning margin of over 18 points per game. And finally, there is way too much talk about the Giants right now. Everyone is liking their chances to knock off the Packers. No one is talking about the Super Bowl champions who just went 15-1. They are 21-1 in their last 22 contests overall. Expect Aaron Rodgers to show up and remind everyone who the fuck he is today.
